Rosie and Rocky Seek New Homes
Rosie and Rocky, two rat terrier mixes seek new loving homes. Their primary guardian in the home is recently deceased and her surviving spouse cannot provide them with the amount of attention each day they are accustomed to. Rosie is a 5-year-old, spayed female; Rocky is a 9-year-old neutered male. Both are up-to-date on inoculations and are microchipped. These 20-lb companions are house trained. Until they moved here from the Midwest a year and a half ago, they had the additional attention of their guardians' grandchildren. They can be adopted from the Humane Society of Southern New Mexico. To adopt, contact HSSNM at 575-523-8020, or contact Frank at the Doggie Dude Ranch at 575-647-4471. |

Sasha is probably a shepherd/pit mix but very gentle and retiring. She has been spayed, vaccinated and will be micro-chipped before she is adopted. She may weigh as much as 35 pounds but should not get any bigger (she is relatively long and low) and been with us for about three weeks. She came with a very young stray puppy at the same time and has been very motherly with her. Sasha has worked with HSSNM volunteer dog exercise socializers several times and seems very loving and friendly. We suspect she would do well in a multiple animal family and with small children. She has not shown any tendency to bark excessively or display anxiety issues.
For more information, please contact the Doggie Dude Ranch (647-4471) where she is available for adoption. |

This little girl, Angel Pup, was given a birth day of April 1, 2010 and is just now old enough for her vaccinations and to be spayed so all that will be done soon. She appears to be a shepherd mix although probably smaller than average. She is just gaining some confidence with people as she was abandoned quite early it seems. She has been with Sasha, a shepherd/pit mix since she came to us (they came together) and has been parented to some degree by Sasha. Angel has worked with HSSNM volunteer dog exercise and socializers several times and done well. She lacks a good bit of trust in people in general but appears to have a gentle and mellow disposition.
For more information, please contact the Doggie Dude Ranch (647-4471) where she is available for adoption. |

Brownie is a special needs semi-feral little spayed female kitten, current on her shots, who has captivated her foster family with her unique attitude. Brownie was trapped on the roof of a local golf club and while she puts on a good show of hissing and acting tough has never bitten or even scratched anyone. We know that the completion of her socialization will require a dedicated effort on the part of her new family but we think she is special and deserves every opportunity we can give her. |

Pet of the Week
Champ is one and one half years old and is an attractive German shepherd. He came to us with the problem of being an exuberant oversize puppy and simply needed some training and maturity. He is neutered, vaccinated and chipped. He has developed into a calmer, much better behaved companion through the help of our staff and we think he is really ready for adoption to a family that understands he will still need some more supervision and manners training but he is smart as a whip and eager to please and only wants lots of loving. We do not think he is ready for small children or a multiple animal family with cats or dogs.
For more information, please contact the Doggie Dude Ranch at 647-4471. |

Juniper, is a very pretty 3-yr old, spayed cat, DLH Gray, she is a very shy cat and will take someone with cat experience to bring her out of her shell. But with patience and understanding, she will come around and become a sweet addition to any family. If you would like to meet Juniper, please contact her foster Mom, Barbara, at 575-635-4832. |
The following cats were rescued from a shelter in Arizona, and currently are in foster care with HSSNM volunteer Evelyn Hancock. If you would like to adopt one or more of these cats, please call Evelyn at 575-650-6746.
They have their vaccinations and are spayed/neutered. Please be aware that they are adjusting to life in a home with people around most of the time. Prior to this, shelter life was all that most of them have ever known. Some of them are still a bit shy and fearful and will be when they are adopted into new homes. However, with patience and cat behavior understanding, they will come around as they adjust to their new homes and families. |
