Frankie D. Bryce, President
Frankie D. Bryce, BA, has 15 years experience operating a successful commercial companion animal boarding kennel in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mr. Bryce is retired from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) having served across the nation at wildlife refuges and regional offices. His USFWS responsibilities included wildlife programs management, a wide range of public affairs and access for hunting, fishing, wildlife observation, and other outdoor activities along with conducting volunteer programs and 10 years in law enforcement. Mr. Bryce provided ADA evaluation, facilitation and training for state and federal sites and staff in 12 states. Mr. Bryce worked extensively in both print and photography fields. Additionally, Mr. Bryce has served on non-profit boards, either as a voting board member or as an ex-officio member, and been active in various civic organizations, elementary, secondary and college level programs and efforts. Mr. Bryce served as volunteer coordinator for the Las Cruces Museum of Natural History and coordinator for the Science Advisor Program for the Las Cruces Public Schools and school districts throughout Doña Ana and Luna Counties.

Maryln Zahler, Vice President
Maryln has lived in Las Cruces for13 years with her sister Phylis Blazer Ph.D.
She has an Ed.M in Education plus 45 hrs. post graduate in Curriculum Education and has taught both elementary school and college level students.
She has owned dogs and cats, and has served on two animal shelter boards in Florida, plus a "NoKill" group as a young person in NewYork State. Maryln spent 2 1/2 years with Doña Ana County Animal Control as Coordinator of the A.C. Reserve Officers and now serves as vice president of HSSNM. Maryln loves green chiles.

Jean Gilbert, Secretary
Jean is a retired teacher with a MS degree in elementary/special education. She has been active in animal welfare since moving to Las Cruces with her husband over 25 years ago. She has served on the board of directors of Las Cruces Storytellers, Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary, Southwest Environmental Center, and the Dona Ana County Humane Society.
As a humane and environmental educator, Jean leads a HSSNM weekly program "Critter Connection" with youth participating from two Las Cruces Boys & Girls Club sites. Volunteers from R.S.V.P. (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program), TheraPaws and their ambassador dogs, and animal advocates assist in leading and facilitating sessions on pet care topics, animal welfare, and environmental education. Jean also leads "The Snooter Club", a weekly critter club with service projects for Boys & Girls Club youth at Cesar Chavez Elementary. In addition to this work, Jean coordinates volunteers working in the social-enrichment program with HSSNM foster animals.
Jean welcomes inquiries about education presentations and service projects for youth and inquiries from people interested in volunteering with the organization.

Win Jacobs, Director
Win Jacobs has served on the Board of Commissioners for the Housing Authority of the City of Las Cruces since 2002, and has been chair since 2007. In addition, she has been a member of the League of Women Voters of Greater Las Cruces since 1994 and was president from 1996 to 1998. She served as a SCORE counselor from 1998 to 2006. Win was also a board member of the Free Spay and Neuter Program, Inc. from 2006 to 2009.

John Jones, Director
John Jones is a retired mechanical engineer, with post-graduate training as a systems analyst and systems programmer. He served in the U. S. Army for 2+ years. He has 2 1/2 years experience working with the Free Spay and Neuter Program, Inc., serving as a board member, editor of its newsletter and webmaster.

Judy Long, Director
Dr. Judy Long received her B. A. from Radcliffe College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and her M. A. and Ph. D. from the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor. She has been a faculty member at the University of Chicago, Cornell University and Syracuse University, retiring to Las Cruces, N. M. in 1998.
An animal lover since childhood, Judy Long became involved in animal rescue by accident (literally) when she stopped to help a dog that had been hit on the highway. A series of rescue greyhounds has graced her home, along with a long sequence of cats. Since retirement she has found time to work more actively in animal welfare.
